If you want to be successful online, you need to have a diversified online portfolio. Unless you want to start producing crappy Internet Marketing products and selling them for $97 or more, that is. So what do I mean by a diversified portfolio? It means that you should create anything and everything: large sites, small sites, using free hosts and paid ones, Hubpages, Squidoo lenses, etc. Today I am going to talk about how to produce a small niche site in the quickest amount of time and make it pay for its rent. Also, I am going to point out the major advantages of a strong network of small niches sites.

So how do I go about this? My favorite method that I am going to discuss next is to create a site that promotes an Amazon product. The decision of buying a new domain for it or making a Blogspot, Wordpress or Blogsome blog is based around the specifics of the product. More precisely: does the product have moderate traffic or better or does it have low traffic? If the product has moderate traffic or better, I go for a paid domain. Why? Because with such a product, chances are far greater that you will get your money back or more, with the extra advantage that you own a new domain name.

Example: the keyword “cranium hullabaloo” has an approximate average search volume in Google of 22,200. While I don’t take this number literally, it shows me that the respective keyword does get decent traffic. Another example: hoover u5140 has an approximate search volume of 40,500, with many great long tail keyword variations, such as “hoover u5140-900 widepath tempo”. Clicking on those link will take you to the websites I created for these 2 keywords. Now for low traffic keywords that would be great on free hosted blogs, take this Spinmaster Air Hogs Car site as an example. The approximate search volume on Google for “air hogs car” is 1000.

Now would I bother creating a site for a keyword that gets low traffic? It’s easy: chances are that it will someday make sales, and I don’t mind the low volume (as a matter of fact it already made several sales already and I haven’t started link building on it…yet). You need to understand that you should spread your net as much as possible. While one of these websites will never make much money, think about this: would 100 or even 200 of those make money? Of course they would. Those sales tend to add up incredibly.

And now here’s the cherry on the cake: while making money themselves, these websites will increase your online real estate dramatically. There are countless things that you can do with them, but maybe the most appealing of them all is the fact that you can use them for your link building campaigns. These are the types of links that you normally strive for. The best strategy in this respect is to create groups of small niche websites that concentrate on the same theme. Then, build a large authority website that is linked to from all the websites in the same niche with it. Now how about that for a ton of authority?

Finally, how do I go about promoting these websites? I do it in the following steps:

1. I create the website and let it rest of a month or two. I only concentrate on getting a couple of backlinks to it for indexing and aging;
2. When a month or two have passed, I do an article submission run using “Article Post Robot”;
3. I find blog pages that have the product’s name in their title tags and comment on them;
4. I may do link exchanges between them also.

Using this quick link building strategy, you will definitely get to top 10 for the products’ names quite easily. The traffic you will get will be highly targeted and the conversion rates will be amazing. This is due to both the nature of the traffic and the trust of the Amazon brand. How much should creating such a website and promoting it take? No more than 2 hours for each mini site. Thanks for reading thus far and good luck if you decide to follow my advice.

I’ve recently stumbled upon a website that’s supposedly about SEO, PPC and Internet Marketing. The owner of the respective website had a post in which he rambled on and on about how making money with Adsense is difficult and it is not worth the time. First piece of advice: when you stumble upon a website owner and alleged Internet Marketing expert who says that about Adsense, just close the browser. Anything else you would do would be a mere waste of time.

So what makes Adsense so great?
First of all, making money with Adsense is the simplest effective way to make money online. If you don’t know how to do it, chances are that you will not be able to make money through Affiliate Marketing either. And since we are at the subject of affiliate programs, the majority of them will not even get close to Adsense’s EPC. My rule of the thumb: when I am looking at various affiliate programs with the intention of promoting them, I want their EPC to at least match the EPC of my Adsense account. There are a few exceptions where I don’t care for that, like Amazon’s affiliate program.

Even for the high paying pay per lead programs in the mortgage or insurance niches I don’t necessarily go for the affiliate program, because in the end, the EPC is what matters. Without exceptions, the high paying pay per lead offers also have great CPC values in Adsense. As an irony, the great Adsense CPC values in these niches are exactly due to the fact that they pay well for leads. There are many advertisers on Adwords and they need to bid high in order to get traffic. So how can you make money with Google Adsense? I will try to keep this short and sweet. Take action and follow it, and you will definitely make money.

1. Choose your niche
You don’t necessarily need to choose a high CPC niche. My philosophy is that you can choose almost any niche you want, as there will always exist long tail keywords that bring in good traffic and are low on competition. Just make sure you don’t choose too broad a niche.

2. Keyword Research
I use the Google tool and Keyword Discovery. I put all the keywords in an excel spreadsheet, write their search volumes and the competition. One mistake many beginners make: they take the volume numbers shown by various keyword research tools literally. I like to concentrate on their relative value. For example, if a keyword will show a medium search volume on Google and the same thing happens in Keyword Discovery, I know for sure that it receives traffic. I arrange keywords in the spreadsheet by their common root. For example, “gift basket ideas”, “homemade gift basket ideas”, and “holiday gift basket ideas”, all go in the same group. As for the competition, my most important indicator is the allintitle operator. For example, allintitle:homemade gift basket ideas will show 636 results, which means that there are 636 pages which have those words in the title tag. That’s very low.

3. Content Creation and onpage SEO
When the keyword research is done, I start creating the articles. Well, I don’t create them, I hired a person to do the content creation for me. How do I proceed about this? I start with the keywords that have the lowest allintitle competition and work my way up. That’s because I want to dominate the non competitive keywords first as their search volumes can really add up. I make sure that my content is unique. I really don’t care about the duplicate content argument. If I am to create a serious money maker, I like to make sure that my content is of quality, but that’s just me. I know I could get away with crappy content also, but I don’t care for that. It has to do with wanting to contribute something to the web, rather than spamming it.

As for onpage SEO, make sure that your pages have the keywords in the title tags. Also, make sure that all the title tags are unique, as well as the meta description tags, just in case.

4. Link building
Starting with the most non-competitive terms, start getting anchored backlinks both to your subpages and to the homepage. This is the single most important factor to the success of your website. Getting targeted backlinks can be difficult, and I could go on and on for hours about it. Once you start getting backlinks, you will notice your traffic increasing slowly but surely. Patience is another key factor of your success. If you want results right away, you are going to be disappointed. But money will start coming in, and building a website that produces $100/day from Adsense is very doable, especially if you place your ad blocks in specific areas.

That’s about it, it is not difficult, but it’s not for lazy people either. Finally, if I were to recommend you one single person who is an expert in Adsense, let me introduce you to Grizz, and his 2 blogs, make money online for beginners and make money online with Grizzly. Now what are you waiting for? Get to work.

Up until 2 days ago, I considered Pepperjam Network to be one of the great affiliate networks. With the CEO of the company Kris Jones popping up everywhere where the words “pepperjam” or even “pepper” and/or “jam” were uttered in order to guide us followers through the darkness, I said to myself: “Oh, OK, here’s an interesting company who cares for its publishers and advertisers equally”. Boy, was I wrong!

The premise: I only have 2 eBay affiliate websites. Why only two? Because I really think that the eBay partner network is a mess. I would rather use my time elsewhere than constantly worrying about my commissions being either returned (as it once happened) or being told that my leads are not of good quality, etc. After all, there are plenty of programs out there on a pay per lead basis, and 99% of them much more professional than EPN. My 2 websites that do promote eBay products are built on the WordPress platform and have phpBay Pro installed (which is by the way a great product, I will be reviewing it soon, and if they also incorporate Amazon, that would be great).

The incident: One of my websites sits on a domain that I had bought as pre-owned in May this year. The truth is that I bought the website, installed Wordpress, wrote three articles, and installed phpBay pro. I had forgotten about it, and I was meaning to get back to it when I had the time. So, this being said, about two weeks ago I check into my Pepperjam Network account with the intention of finding some good offers to promote. Luckily, I hadn’t yet promoted anything from the Pepperjam Network. You will soon know what I mean by “luckily”.

When I check in, I see my balance at approximately $52. That was a surprise for me, because I was expecting it to be near 0. I look at the stats and see that 2 sign ups for eBay had been made. I said to myself: “Way to go, little website”. After all, I had worked an hour at best on it.

Fast forward to yesterday. I receive 2 emails from the Pepperjam Network. The first one says this:

“It has been brought to our attention that your account has experienced activity that violates Advertisers’ Terms and Conditions set forth in their Pepperjam Network affiliate programs. Because of this activity, Pepperjam Network is withholding your payments until further investigation. Please call us at your earliest convenience at (570)408-9861 to discuss this matter. You will need to provide information about your account before a decision is reached in regards to your payments.”

And then the second one:

“Your promotional methods, publisher information or conduct have been identified in breach of the Advertiser’s Terms and Conditions and/or the Pepperjam Network Partner Service Agreement you agreed to follow. Due to this breach, your affiliation with this Advertiser and account with Pepperjam Network has been terminated. Pursuant to the Partner Service Agreement, your commissions are being reviewed and transactions may be reversed by the appropriate advertisers. If you have questions regarding this notice, please reply to this email using the provided reply-to address and leave the subject line intact.”

So what happened? I don’t know exactly what happened, I can only guess. My guess is that a person registered twice for eBay, and they considered that I did it on purpose. How can a person register twice, you ask? I really don’t know, probably a person who is not at all computer savvy. The truth is that these incidents happen all the time. It is your duty, as a partner network, to find these incidents and void the commissions for those specific actions. For instance, I promote an online degree affiliate program which is hosted over at Shareasale.com (a REAL high quality affiliate network). That particular program pays $24/lead. I have had stuff like that happen over there also, but they, instead of terminating my account, they did what any professional network should be capable of doing: they voided the transactions! They must be aware of the fact that you, as a website owner, only have limited control over the behavior of your visitors. It is absurd to even ask anything else, as eBay and Pepperjam Network are doing, without even giving you the benefit of the doubt!

So, I wonder: if I had started promoting some programs from the Pepperjam Network and I had some reasonable amount of money in the balance, and this incident had happened, what would have happened to all my money? Down the drain, of course. So be careful, if you are promoting eBay but also other programs from the Pepperjam Network, the lighting may strike you when you least expect it, because it seems that eBay’s paranoia and lack of professionalism are very contagious. What about my two websites? They will be promoting Amazon products, of course. That’s a company that knows what it’s doing.

When Frank Kern and Mike Filsaime sent emails talking about a new and revolutionary SEO software, I thought to myself: “Oh, this ought to be good”. Even better, it was free. Here is what Frank Kern wrote to his list:

“Don’t ask me *how* this works because I have no idea but it’s free and it gets you free traffic:”
Well, at least he admits he has no idea what he’s talking about. That’s a good first step.

“A friend of mine uses it and increased his sales by 10 times. (His name is Jonathan Mizel and I’ll send you his interview where he talks about it later in the week).”
Frank, from now on, when you have trouble sleeping, instead of counting sheep, you should do it like this: one pig flying, two pigs flying, three pigs flying, up to ten and then start again.

“Anyway - this is pretty cool! Frank”

Now, when respected gurus like these two guys are send an email for a new piece of software, it should be really cool, right? Haha. Well, I didn’t expect too much from it of course, but what I got in return was beyond even my wildest expectations in terms of what these guys would do in order to increase their downline. The free SEO software that magically increases your sales overnight and is the secret to a successful business, is… drums rolling please.

The Wordpress content management system.

Yes, you read that right. We are talking about Wordpress, which you can download for free here. This is the magical SEO blog software that Mike Filsaime, according to his email, immediately sent to his staff in order to investigate it and see what’s under its hood. The version that Jeff Johnson, the author of this delightful piece of software offers has customizable title tags and meta tags (yes Mikey, you can answer… yes, of course we are talking about the all in one SEO pack) and the sociable plugin. That’s right, so people can bookmark your website and you will magically see how it makes 10 times more sales… overnight. Oh, what will they think of next?

I listened to the first few minutes of the “case study” that comes with this amazing SEO blog software. The case study features Jonathan Mizel, the man who increased his revenue 10 times after starting using the software. The respective interview was so full of crap and it made me laugh so hard, that my girlfriend thought I was having a panic attack. Finally, you may say: it’s free, what’s the harm? Well, the harm is that if you still believe this type of stuff, there’s really very little chance that you will make it in the Internet Marketing business.

Each and every day I am amazed by the great number of people who want to learn Internet Marketing and want to make money online but simply can’t. They can’t for various reasons, either it’s their lack of discipline and will or, in most of the cases, the misinformation that is being spread around by the Internet Marketing gurus. You need to believe me when I tell you this, because I can’t stress it enough: 99% of all the products that come from the gurus are plain rubbish. If you continue to listen to them and buy their products, you are not going to make any money.

What you need to do instead is start working, testing, working and then testing some more. I’ve learned what I need to do in order to make a website profitable through trial and error. However, most of the people who try their luck online, never make more than a buck or two. This is because they do it all wrong and are influenced by the gurus, when they should be testing and working. Internet Marketing is not easy. If you got that impression, you are wrong. Now here are the things you should do in order to create a profitable website. Bear in mind, you need to do them in this order and follow these guidelines.

1. Find a money maker
You may be surprised by this, but: you need to know what you are going to be selling before you do anything else. The only exception to this rule may be if you are planning to monetize your website using Adsense, in which case you can choose from many niches. But, in the case of an affiliate product, you don’t choose the niche and the product afterwards. You choose the product first and the niche implicitly.

2. Decide the type of website you are going to build
Here, you have 2 basic options: you can build a small niche site centered around the particular product, or build a large website that is going to attract a lot of search engine traffic. In order to find about the advantages or disadvantages of each method, read the article “Small Niche Site vs Large Authority Site”

3. Keyword Research
This is where 90% of the people get it all wrong. They don’t realize the importance of keyword research. Keyword research is the foundation of all your future work. If you don’t get this right, you are doomed from the get go. You are not going to get targeted visitors and you are probably not going to get search engine traffic at all. And although there are a lot of people who quickly dismiss search engine traffic under the pretense that they don’t want to depend on Google, it is the best kind of traffic you could ever get. People who dismiss it do so simply because they have no idea how to get it. How to do keyword research can be the subject of a small book, I could write on and on about it. I consider the best tools for this task to be Google’s tool and Keyword Discovery.

4. Content creation
You should now start creating your content around the keywords that you have chosen. If you want to build a small niche site, content creation will not be very difficult. However, if you plan on building a large site, it may take a while. You can outsource it if you like, but make sure that you always have unique content on your website. For a website that’s going to make you money, unique content is always the best bet.

5. Onpage Search Engine Optimization
Of course, I will not include tasks like uploading the website to your server in this small guide, these are self implied. Proper onpage search engine optimization includes the following tasks:
- proper use of title tags;
- proper use of meta description tags;
- use of H1 and H2 headers;
- bolding the main keywords on a page, but not more than a few times;
- using alt tags for images;
- designing a proper internal website structure.

6. Link building
Without targeted links, your business will never be productive. Read that again and remember it. Getting the right links to your website and in the right way is almost an art. Some people have more complex classifications, but I only split the links in two categories: crappy links and quality links. I define crappy links as being the links you get from article directories or social bookmarking sites, while quality links for me are in context links, from medium quality sites and up, anchored with my keyword, and with the keyword in the title tag of the page that’s linking to me. Again, I could write a whole book on the subject of link building.

And these are the 6 steps you need to take in order to build a profitable website. There are lots of details to the whole guide, but it’s up to you to research and know how to do them properly. Notice I didn’t put a magic number in the title in order to draw more pairs of eyes. I just wrote the process as I do it. Now get to work, what are you waiting for?

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Article Post Robot is an article submitting software. At the time of this writing, the 1.8 version has been released, which incorporates 433 article directories and 54 mail lists. I have tested many of article submitters before, but none of them is really any good except for Article Post Robot. So what makes this software unique?

Article Post Robot has the perfect combination of features that I’ve looked for in an article submitter for a long period of time. I, personally, want an article submitter to:

- send my articles automatically, without the need to push a button (many other submitters are semi-automatic, meaning that they will fill out the forms for you, but you will need to click the next button in order for them to proceed to the next directory);
- spin my articles, so I don’t send the same resource box to all the directories. This is very important, because I want to vary my anchor texts when I submit the same article to tens of directories (not hundreds, I will tell you why in a minute).

In addition to these great 2 features, Article Post Robot gives you the possibility to spin everything, starting with the title of the article and the body, and ending with the description and the bio box. Half an hour of formatting an article will help you immensely. Why?

Google doesn’t give that much importance to article directories anymore. This is because these sites are notorious for the massive amounts of spam they host and Google can track them easily because most of them function on one of these 4 CMSs (content management systems): Article Dashboard, Article MS, Article Beach and Article Friendly. There are few directories which still hold some authority and are worth submitting to.

Even if you only submit to the directories that are important, you still don’t want to submit exactly the same article to all of them. I particularly encourage you to spin the title very well so you get a unique title to each directory, even if it only varies by a word or two. This will help you greatly in getting many of your articles indexed by Google.

The way in which you spin any part of the article is using {{{, | and }}}. For example, in a sentence like:
Article Post Robot is {{{a great|an amazing|an incredible}}} piece of software.
The software will randomly choose one of the three options when submitting. This means that it will either submit:
Article Post Robot is a great piece of software.
Article Post Robot is an amazing piece of software.
Article Post Robot is an incredible piece of software.

As I already mentioned, I encourage you to spin the article really well, especially the title and the bio box. Even though Article Post Robot has a list of 433 article directories, you only need to use about 50 or 60 of them. This is due to the fact that the majority of article directories are very poorly indexed by Google, and there’s no point in submitting to them. I created a custom list of article directories that are worth submitting to which I use myself. I will make it available soon for free.

Any bad parts for Article Post Robot? Besides the fact that it doesn’t have the best looks, no, not really. Sometimes, not very often though, it will miss an article directory. As far as the Article Marketing strategy and how I use it, that will be the subject of a whole new article. Article Post Robot is the only article submitter I use and recommend.

Mike Filsaime does it again! Of course, I don’t mean that in a good way. If you thought that the torture of his long video sales letters was over, think again! Traffic Crusher is ready to crush your patience.

During these painfully long 35 minutes of video you are going to be continuously psychologically blackmailed into buying this so called traffic building course. Mike Filsaime doesn’t forget to remind you on many occasions about the 50,000 people who were fired by Citibank. This is supposed to be the mental trigger for you to buy this product. Why not use 50,000 people’s suffering to our advantage if we can, right? Wrong.

The economic recession is even more a reason for you to stop buying into this type of programs. Continuing the tradition of the fiasco called “Review Crusher”, this program will cost you about the same as your mortgage (piece of advice: choose the mortgage). But the bonuses that you are given really shows how low these Internet Marketing gurus can go.

- 6 free months for the Job Crusher membership program – Job Crusher buyers, how are you feeling now?
- Mike Filsaime’s workshop for newbies – supposedly a $997 value – hey Workshop for Newbies buyers, how are you feeling now? Yeah, I bet those $997 could really come in handy now.
- Ad Influence, costing $197.
- Viral Friend Generator, costing $97.

People who bought all these products must feel pretty stupid by now. I won’t go into the details of how this is a really unethical thing to do. So how much the Traffic Crusher program will cost you? Well, according to the video, it goes like this:

You’re not going to pay $4184
You’re not even going to pay $3000
In fact, you are not even going to pay $2497 (those figures ending in 97 must really be a turn on for these guys)
In fact, you are not even going to pay $1997
…if you are getting bored by now, imagine how it feels watching the video – 30 minutes of my life I will never get back! Let’s resume.
In fact, you are not even going to pay $1497
In fact, you are not even going to pay $997

If you act today, you will only pay $497 in one payment or 3 payments of $197. I don’t know who still buys these cheap tricks, but my advice to you is simply stay away.

The Traffic Crusher program itself is supposed to teach you how to drive great amounts of traffic to your website. Now from what is presented in the video, I got the impression that it will each you neat tricks about how to drive traffic that doesn’t convert. Like those programs that give you 10,000 hits for only $12,50. A piece of advice: it’s not how much traffic you send to your website, it is what kind of traffic. I think I’ll pass this and you should do the same.

No affiliate link needed.

Read this article carefully as it may save you a lot of frustration, as well as valuable time and money spent on crappy Internet Marketing products coming from the gurus. So let’s suppose you want to become the next famous guru. What do you do? We’ll consider the day you make your “million dollar launch” the D-day, the day in which you are officially “one of them”. So let’s go through the whole process. Remember, what I am going to tell you next is exactly what the make money online gurus rehash in 90% of their ebooks (so there’s no need to buy their products, you have the summarized and concise version here).

Step 1: Two years before the D-day
Start a serious campaign of ass kissing. Take note of all the established gurus out there and try to establish a connection… something, anything. Make sure that you kiss their ass really good or they may ignore you in the future. It’s better if you combine this with step 2, for maximum efficiency.

Step 2: 1 – 2 years before the D-day
Create the crappiest product you can ever think of showing people how you make money online. It can be something like $10,000/month, but it has to be above the average wage (or people will not be that impressed). I think you could even go for $5,000 as you are still unknown. Now, here’s the catch: there’s really no need for you to have made $5,000 / month online. You just need to “fake it until you make it”. For proof, just make some fake screenshots of your Clickbank or Paypal accounts. It’s really easy to create fake screenshots. The average Joe will not notice anyway. Now, all this time, you must not cease to ass kiss the players who are already in the market. When you launch, make sure that you get at least a few of those guys to promote your crappy products. And now that you’ve made some quick cash and increased your list, it’s time to move on to step 3.

Step 3: The year before the D-day
Increase the intensity of the ass kissing and of the “fake it until you make it” idea. Sign up for Warrior Forum and start rambling left and right about how you made this incredible launch. Write a few free reports showing “the next great thing”. The recipe for these reports is simple: create a controversial title like “Why You Can No Longer Make Money Online” (ok, this is a rough title, but I’m sure you can refine it a little bit). Then, in the report, spin off the idea saying that you really didn’t mean that. Hopefully, the report will go viral and you will increase your list even more.

Also in this period, you must create a second crappy product that you are going to sell for far more than the first one. Start creating “buzz” around it. The recipe for this one is also simple: you need to spam the people from you already fairly large list with as many emails as possible saying how this next product will change their lives, will bring them millions overnight, etc.

And if you don’t have any ideas about the subject of this big crappy product, just write 70 pages of nonsense explaining the stages of your “evolution” up until now in as many words as possible. Then, label it as the next money making idea. You can title it “How I made millions online” or something like that. In fact, you will not have made millions until you launch it. The book will actually be a course on “how to make millions by telling other people that you’ve made millions when you actually haven’t”. You can encourage them in the book to do the same. Basically, the book will teach them how to make millions by telling other people they’ve made millions. Oh, it’s a vicious circle, I know.

You can also go for a spin off, meaning that you can create a piece of software that is already available for free or at a reduced price and put a price tag on it that is 20 times higher than normal. Write an incredibly long sales letter that is as boring as possible but with a catchy headline like: “How I made $12,231 in one day”. You must, absolutely must, include pictures of you sitting near expensive cars, you need to show your swimming pool, etc. Also, don’t forget about asking your relatives and friends for testimonials and don’t forget about the fake Clickbank and Paypal screenshots either. Finally, during this period, you need to continue the intense ass kissing in order to make sure that you convince at least a few of the other Internet Marketing gurus to spam their own lists.

Step 4: The D-day
Launch the product. Make sure that you JV partners send out their emails, and that you do too. Watch as 1,000 people from the combined lists of tens of thousands or even more buy the ridiculously overpriced and useless product. If you are lucky enough, you may hit the $1 million mark. Congratulations: you have officially become the next Internet Marketing guru. From now on, all you need to do is release as many crappy products as possible and try to scam the hell out of the people. Suggested techniques for that: create a new product, price it low like $7. Then, in the terms of agreement, where there’s little chance that people will notice, say that you will actually bill them monthly for $27, $67 or whatever you feel like it. This is just an idea, but there are many more, and you can even go as low as to ignore refund requests, etc. The idea is to scam the people as much as possible.

So, how about the next big product from that famous Internet Marketing guru? Do you still want to buy it?

Around the Christmas holidays, people do everything do find the perfect gifts for their loved ones. Do you know what this means? It means more opportunities for you and I to promote hot items.

People are practically surfing the web with their credit cards in their hands. Amazon is the most trusted online store and its affiliate program could mean extra money in your pocket. Here are several strategies you can use for the upcoming holidays.

1) Create niche sites targeted around a single product
Toys and gifts for kids are particularly popular this time of the year. You can create blogspot or wordpress blogs each one targeting a single product. For example, this site promoting the Schwinn Roadster 12 Inch trike or this one promoting the Cranium Hullabaloo game. Keep these sites simple and make sure you include a call to action for your visitor. You need the visitor to click and go to Amazon through your affiliate link. There are literally thousands of toys which can be used for this strategy on Amazon but not only (I personally prefer Amazon since it converts very well because of the fact that it is well known and trusted). You can also buy your own domains for this strategy or create and Astore (I prefer to do all of them).

2) Create large sites targeting various products
For example, a site with hot products for 2008 can be a very good idea. Or maybe a site which presents appropriate gifts for children of various ages. There are endless possibilities. Even if it is already November and creating this website now might not show its true potential, next year it will have already aged and with some consistent link building, it can be a really good money maker.

3) Do some PPC
You can find tons of cheap keywords that are highly targeted. This, combined with the buying that’s going on around Christmas, can turn into nice profits. You can use the small targeted niche sites as your landing pages as they are highly targeted and will improve your quality score, thus providing you with cheap clicks.

If you think you are already late, think about the fact that you can use this strategy for the rest of the year also. Create small targeted Amazon affiliate niche sites and get them to top 10 of Google for the particular product they are promoting. They can also be used to provide your large sites with some link love.

Many Internet Marketing beginners have no idea about how to create a website that is going to bring them profit. There are a lot of things that can go wrong, from picking the wrong keywords (or not picking them at all), to lack of understanding of how a website should be promoted.

For the sake of this conversation, let’s all agree that a small niche website is a website that has up to 20-25 pages, and a large website is a website that has more than 20-25 pages. Although, to be perfectly honest, a website falls in the category of a small niche website if it targets a small niche (obviously), even if it has 100 pages. This is what defines it the most and puts it in the aforementioned category.

Anyway, which one of these 2 types of websites should you create? Many connoisseurs will tell you to go for small niche websites. My personal opinion is: go for both! They both have their advantages and disadvantages, and hey… if you are going to build an online empire, you need to diversify everything starting with the types of websites you own and ending with the income streams.

Advantages of small niche websites

1. They are easier to build
Everything from keyword research, to content creation and site development can be done faster. I personally have 2 customized Wordpress themes and 2 customized static html themes that I use on my niche websites. I like to diversify this aspect also, because in the case of a niche website, making it html will not give you so many headaches. Although Google loves the WordPress platform, I don’t like to produce everything in exactly the same way.

2. You need fewer links in order to rank
Since link building is the single most important factor in any website’s development, this is the aspect you should focus on the most once you are done with content creation. Supposing that you chose a proper subject for your niche website, which basically means that you chose a subject that you can actually take to top 5 of Google, link building will take far less time than in the case of an authority website. Also, on a niche website you can generally get away with more crappy links (links from social bookmarking sites, article directories, link directories). I follow one simple rule: the easier the niche is to dominate, the more crappy links you can get away with (OK, now don’t overdo it). On a niche website, I would generally do 4 or 5 article submission runs, some blog commenting, and social bookmarking on the major bookmarking sites. Of course, if you manage to get some related links, it gets even better. Although, generally, getting authority links for a small niche website is very difficult.

3. If something happens to one of the sites, you have many more lying around
I can’t stress this enough, diversification is the key. I know it sounds like a cliché, but this is very true: do not put your eggs in one basket. If something happens to one of your niche sites and it stops receiving Google traffic, it’s not a tragedy.

Advantages of big authority sites

1. They develop massive authority in time
Owning a few powerful authority sites can be an incredible asset. These must be the mammoths of your online business, the sites which make most of your money. Do not make the mistake of developing crappy content for these ones (although I don’t really advocate crappy content, you can generally get away with it far easier in the case of niche websites). Build them as an authority in the field and provide excellent information because good content is what will make these authority websites develop a natural link profile. They will receive citations naturally, and this is what Google loves the most.

2. You will be able to get much better links
Don’t get me wrong, you still need to work on getting links to these websites, and a lot more than on a niche website. However, authority sites have an incredible advantage. You can much easier get authority links from related websites pointing to them. This in turn build the authority we talked about earlier.

3. You will be able to rank for a wide array of terms
If you work enough to establish good link authority, you will rank naturally for many phrases that would be suitable for a niche website for example, simply by creating a good enough content structure inside your website. You see, the high authority homepage will pass authority to all its subpages and so on, making it easy for you to rank simply by means of internal linking. This is actually the beauty of a big authority website: its ranking power will far exceed the ranking power of a network of sites which, put together, have the same link equity as a single big authority site. In other words, if you passed the same link equity to 10 small niche websites rather than to one big authority site, they would never yield as much traffic as the big authority site.
